Lee Hayes: Patient engagement and education: the path to self-determination

The objective of the presentation is to understand the patients' health literacy, as well as their digital literacy, and utilise this knowledge to synthesise a number of educational support tools to achieve optimum clinical outcomes for their CKD journey, utilising the wellbean program as an example.

Lee is a renal nurse, with a passion for renal education. Following completion of her Post Graduate Diploma of Advanced Clinical Nursing (Renal), she has worked across all areas of Nephrology including Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Renal Transplantation and with Newly diagnosed CKD.

She has completed stints in patient and staff education before and after completing a Master of Professional Education and Training. Lee is currently the wellbean patient support program team leader at Partizan Australia, who provide educational support and training for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease who are prescribed Aranesp® for the treatment of Renal Anaemia.

Chris Raftery: NPs and the System 

A presentation discussing business models and funding of our health services, as well as opportunities for advanced practice roles such as NPs.

Chris is an adjunct associate professor at QUT, Nursing Director at Gold Coast Health, a nurse practitioner, distinguished nursing leader, deputy chair of the Qld Clinical Senate and Fellow of the ACN, ACNP and ACHSM. 

Having broad clinical and systems leadership experience and influence across the sector, Chris is a leading national identity with the development of advanced practice nursing, informing policy, workforce and reform.
